Driving the Byway

Getting to the Byway

From Charlotte:

• Take I-85 west until you've passed Gastonia.
• Take exit 10 onto U.S. 29/74.
• Travel U.S. 29/74 until the community of Mountain View.

Driving the Byway

• From Mountain View, take S.R. 1125 (Sparrow Springs Road).
• Follow S.R. 1125 as it veers to the right to travel through Crowders Mountain State Park.
• Stay on S.R. 1125 for two miles, and then turn right onto S.R. 1104 (Pinnacle Road).
• At the Cleveland and Gaston county line, S.R. 1125 turns into S.R. 2292 (Lake Montonia Road).
• Follow S.R. 2292 for another mile until it intersects with N.C. 161.
• Take N.C. 161 north for a half mile to exit 8 on I-85 where the byway ends.
