Driving the Byway

Getting to the Byway

• From Asheville: travel west on I-40.
• From Knoxville, TN: travel east and southeast on I-40 until Exit 24.

Driving the Byway

• Exit 24 on I-40 near Waynesville will bring you to the beginning of the Appalachian Medley.
• Traveling north along N.C. 209, you will pass through several small communities and the Pisgah National Forest.
• Continue on N.C. 209 until you read the community of Hot Springs.
• At Hot Springs, turn onto U.S. 25/70.
• U.S. 25/70 will bring you to the town of Walnut where the byway ends.
