Special Considerations

The Dalton Highway is a rough ride. It is not for the faint-hearted traveler, but for the more experienced road warrior. The road is still unpaved, although paving and construction, a top priority for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, was slated to begin in the summer of 1999.

At present, facilities are few and far between, but the drive is exquisite... a destination unlike any other.
