Before you start, check the schedule for the Whittier Tunnel. You may not make the ferry in Whittier if you do not reach the tunnel when it is open. Be aware foot and bike travel is prohibited through the tunnel, and there are vehicle restrictions as well.

  • Head west on W International Airport Rd toward Postmark Dr.
  • Make a U-turn at Postmark Dr.
  • Turn right onto the Minnesota Dr. S ramp to Seward Hwy S.
  • Merge onto Minnesota Dr.
  • Continue on O'Malley Rd.
  • Turn right onto the Seward Hwy. S ramp.
  • Merge onto AK-1 S/Seward Hwy.
  • Continue on Seward Highway to Portage Glacier Road.
  • Take Portage Glacier Road east to Whittier. You will enter the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel shortly after the Placer Creek Bridge in Whittier.
  • The Tunnel leads directly to the Whittier Terminal.
