Midland Trail
The New River Gorge National River, WV

A National River, the New River runs from Blue Stone lake to its junction with the Gauley River to form the Kanawha. Along the way this ancient river has carved a beautiful gorge and offers some of the most spectacular whitewater rafting in the eastern United States. The river is spanned by the New River Gorge Bridge, the second highest in the U.S. and the longest steel arch in the world.

The New River Gorge is a playground for the outdoor enthusiast. Here you will find world-class rock climbing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and primitive camping- all within one of the most beautiful forest areas in the country.
