Come to Grand Rounds Scenic Byway in Minnesota and enjoy golfing along a chain of natural and man-made lakes in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
Most of the byway's golf courses feature mature trees and lush scenery due to the abundance of fresh water lakes, streams and wetlands in the area. Enjoy a leisurely round of golf along classic golf courses dating back to the 1920s and 1930s, such as Hiawatha Golf Course on Longfellow Ave., Gross National Golf Course on St. Anthony Blvd., and Wirth Golf Course on Theodore Wirth Parkway. Of all these courses run by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, the golf course at Theodore Wirth Park on the northern loop of the byway is one of the oldest public courses in the state. Set against a backdrop of the Minneapolis skyline, you will enjoy its scenic views and rolling hills. The course is also famous for its Swiss Chalet-style clubhouse, which is popular for wedding receptions and other parties.
The Grand Rounds Scenic Byway offers many opportunities to play golf. Visit the many public courses on this metropolitan byway and spend your day in what William Wordsworth called "a round of strenuous idleness."
